8 of these Tencel scarves and cowls are now going to Red Sky Gallery in Lake Forest Park.

TENCEL SCARVES
Tencel is an environmentaly friendly fiber made from wood pulp. It is easy-care, soft, silky, kind to the skin, and has a lovely sheen.

Statement from Teresa Ruch about her yarns which I use in several of my scarves: This tencel is imported from Canada and dyed in my Oregon Studio. It is made by pulping hard wood into a slurry and extruding it through a chemical which hardens the fibers so they can be gathered and spun into yarns. The chemical is then recaptured and reused. The wood is from trees that grow in poor soil with very little water and is considered an environmentally friendly product.

RAKU WITH HAND DYED WARPS

Putting together a summary of these skeins
and the the scarves made from them this fall.
These are handdyed Tencel from Theresa Ruch designs.
Each one was woven with a different color weft
which shows the amazing effect the color of weft can make.

These scarves will be at the Gift show Nov 16th.

I purchased some more wonderful Autumn colors of Theresa Ruch's handdyed 10/2 Tencel at  Fiber fusion in Monroe in October. This one had some fantastic magentas and purples mixed with the autumns.

this was a '18 convergence colorway

convergence '18 warp with Webs 8/2 "burgandy" weft
which is really just a nice red  in the blue red family.
It sure came out emphasizing the reds!

I chose a burgandy red weft above for the scarf and an eggplant color weft for the cowl below which were used on the same warp that had autumn colors that included some magentas and plum colors
Warp from Theresa Ruch that was the colors from Convergence 2018

convergence '18 warp with eggplant weft
this really picked up the magentas and purples in the warp.

Next I used a skein of Autumns purchased last year at SWG sale

Scarf of Theresa Ruch Autumn colored handdyed warp
 with Adobe weft
very autumn colors emphasized in this one.

This scarf and cowl were made on the same Autumn colors warp.
Above scarf made with Adobe weft
Below double cowl made with a Maroon weft.

Cowl with Autumn handdyed warp 10/2 Tencel
with 8/2 dark Maroon weft
the autumn colors show much brighter with this darker weft

These next two were made with a warp from another Teresa Ruch 10/2 hand dyed skein - the cowl has a navy weft and the scarf has a dark Fuchsia weft.

Now I'm working with some colors I have rarely done and thanks to the dyeing technique Teresa uses, I could blend these two slightly different skeins and still get some of the fire engine red in sections by itself and the blue red in other sections.
It took two skeins of this red and black 5/2 Tencel to have enough warp to line up the colors and still have it long enough for two scarves. there is less yardage in 100 g of 5/2 yarn.
2 skeins of 5/2 Tencel for a scarf with charcoal weft and a cowl with black weft
